Christian numerologist David Meade claims he has discovered a “date marker” that reveals when Planet X – and the reported resulting apocalypse – is coming.Planet X, or Nibiru, is reportedly a huge planet with a vast orbit that conspiracy theorists claim will one day pass so close to Earth that its gravitational pull could wreak havoc on our planet, triggering earthquakes and other catastrophic events. The myth was born in 1976, when writer Zecharia Sitchin claimed that two ancient Middle Eastern cultures – the Babylonians and Sumerians – told of a giant planet – Nibiru – that orbited the Sun every 3,600 years.Earlier this year, Mr Meade claimed to match the positions of celestial bodies with Bible verses, and worked out when Planet X would cause the end of the world - on September 23.He claims the same timeframe for its arrival is shown by the pyramids. The pyramids, built nearly 5,000 years ago, have long generated conspiracy theories due … [Read more...] about Planet X: ‘Earth-destroyer’ Nibiru to appear NEXT MONTH claims ‘code hidden in pyramids’
‘This is like the Matrix, man,” says Ishmael Butler as a camera flash lights up Shabazz Palaces’ pitch black studio. Located in a former brewery on the outskirts of Seattle, the space is like a hip-hop Batcave – but instead of gadgets and grappling guns, it’s littered with samplers and vintage synthesizers. From this lair, Butler and Tendai Maraire have beamed out their own singular vision of rap to the world. Avant garde, cerebral and at times utterly baffling, the pair’s music has been coupled with their own sci-fi tinged mythology, which makes it feel like it’s coming from another astral plane. “People are often like, ‘Oh, these guys are operating in their own universe’,” says Butler. The duo first emerged in 2009, with two EPs that provided little background information about them. Press releases pictured Butler holding a pair of pythons on a lead outside a cornershop, and revelled in such esoteric messages as: … [Read more...] about ‘We feel like aliens’: Shabazz Palaces, the hip-hop duo beamed in from another planet
Stephen Hawking has warned that Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change could “push the Earth over the brink” and lead to a point where global warming is “irreversible”. The President announced last month that the US would be withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, which has been signed by nearly 200 nations, claiming he wants to “renegotiate” the US’s part in the agreement to ensure American businesses are not disadvantaged. He has highlighted the coal industry as one that would suffer under the climate change deal. Mr Trump’s decision has been widely criticised, with France, Italy and Germany issuing a statement that the deal is “not negotiable,” while Prime Minister Theresa May expressed her “disappointment” to the President in a phone call at the time. Former President Barack Obama hit out at the decision, while the leaders of Apple, Google, Facebook, … [Read more...] about Stephen Hawking says Donald Trump could turn Earth into planet like Venus with 250C and sulphuric acid rain
Yesterday, Express.co.uk was first to report on Mr Hawking's theory we have just a few hundred years left on Earth, and must find an alternative planet, because of the threat posed by over population, climate change, asteroids and other dangers lurking in the universe. But, just how would we do it?Mr Hawking told the Starmus Festival, a scientific conference in Trondheim, Norway, which began on Sunday and continues until Friday, our best bet for finding an Earth-sized rocky planet the right distance from its sun to be not too hot or too cold, and cold water, was in the Alpha Centauri star system around 4.4 light years away.He said we are doomed unless we can develop a small "nano craft" which can travel there at near to the speed of light.Mr Hawking believes this may be possible to achieve over the next 290 to 500 years, with the probe taking 25 years to get there. Tue, April 4, 2017 … [Read more...] about ONE WAY MISSION: How we WILL colonise distant planet when Earth’s doomed – Stephen Hawking
Nasa has announced the discovery of 219 new suspected planets outside our solar system. The figure includes 10 that are “rocky” like Earth and which exist in their solar system's 'Goldilocks zone', neither too close to their star, and therefore too hot, nor too far away and too cold for liquid water to exist. The presence of water is seen as a key factor for the existence of life. In a tweet, Nasa said: "Scientists using @NASAKepler have identified 219 potential new worlds!" The discoveries bring the total number of suspected exoplanets – planets outside our solar system – found by the Kepler space telescope to more than 4,000. "This carefully measured catalogue is the foundation for directly answering one of astronomy’s most compelling questions – how many planets like our Earth are in the galaxy?” said Susan Thompson, a research scientist at the SETI Institute, which searches for signs of extra-terrestrial life. And, in a statement, … [Read more...] about Nasa just discovered ’10 new planets like Earth’
It is urgent for the thousands of families living in tower blocks around the UK that the process of understanding and learning the lessons of the tragedy at Grenfell Tower gets under way as soon as possible and leaves no stone unturned (The warnings were ignored, 15 June). One issue I hope to see addressed is the almost religious adherence of the public sector to the purchaser/provider split, which means that local authorities, the health service and others no longer directly provide in-house services but commission them from external private sector providers, through competitive tendering. I know from many years’ experience as a senior local government housing officer that there was a time when a major technical project, like the refurbishment of a tower block, would have been led by an in-house team including architects, engineers and other experts whose professional pride, ability to sleep at night and pension depended on getting it right. These days such a project will … [Read more...] about How might we avert another tragedy like the Grenfell Tower fire?

The renowned astrophysicist has suggested that life on Earth is increasingly risk of being wiped out by climate change, overdue asteroid strikes, epidemics and population growth. With the future of our own planet looking increasingly precarious, future generations will be forced to forge a new existence in space. Professor Hawking makes the prediction in a new documentary called Expedition New Earth, due to be released this summer as part of the BBC's Tomorrow's World science season. It's a strange feeling when one of the crew of Star Trek takes time out from fighting Klingons to tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself because you never shot anyone. Step forward Starfleet chief Miles O'Brien (aka Irish actor Colm Meaney), who told the Guardian newspaper: "I totally, totally understand where (Martin) McGuinness was coming from when he said that when his community was attacked, he would have been ashamed if he hadn't joined the IRA." Oh, really? Do put down that phaser and tell us more, chief, because some of us were actually members of that community during the same period and, sorry to disappoint you, we mostly didn't join the Provisional IRA, or the Official IRA, or the Irish National Liberation Army, or Judean People's Front, or any of the other republican terror groups prepared to wade through blood - almost always someone else's - to get their glorious united Ireland. Of course, we only had the benefit of silly things to guide our choices, such as … [Read more...] about Why Star Trek actor Colm Meaney is on another planet in McGuinness row – BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has said humans will have to colonise another planet within a hundred years to ensure survival. The legendary scientist is making a new documentary 'Expedition New Earth' with the BBC as part of the new season of Tomorrow's World. Hawking aims to explain to the world how mankind is running out of time and for their survival they will have to venture out in outer space. In the awaited new series, Professor Hawking and his former student Christophe Galfard will travel the world to find out ways humans have to live in space. Technological advancements may destroy human race, warns Stephen Hawking BBC's Tomorrow's World show was suspended after being on air for 34 years. It is now starting again after some 14 years and the producers have promised that this time the series will be way more impressive than it was in the past. Professor Brian Cox, the TV presenter who is part of the series, said: "The original Tomorrow's World inspired a generation - it … [Read more...] about Humans only have 100 years to colonise another planet for survival: Stephen Hawking – The Express Tribune
Stephen Hawking is about to test his theory about the future of the human race in a BBC documentary. In what the British broadcaster is calling a "landmark" two-part series, Hawking will explore his belief that humans must colonise another planet within 100 years if we are to survive. The University of Cambridge professor will travel the world alongside his former student Christophe Galfard and engineering professor, Danielle George, in search of answers. The trio will investigate technological possibilities including plasma rockets and human hibernation, the BBC said. It added that the programme will show Hawking's ambition "isn't as fantastical as it sounds." Titled "Expedition New Earth," the television show will air later this year and is made by Brook Lapping, the production company behind documentaries including "Inside Obama's White House." Hawking spelt out his theory last year in a talk at the Oxford Union debating society, where he claimed humanity probably only has … [Read more...] about Stephen Hawking is about to test his theory that humans must colonise another planet within 100 years
We're told a global recession of almost Depression proportions is taking place, fragmenting the social hierarchy. At the bottom end there is tragic chaos represented by suicides and rising crime. At the top, there's divorce, misery and a small effort to be less ostentatious about one's wealth. Meanwhile, in the middle, according to New York Times columnist David Brooks, it's just depression.Well, that's not what I see around me here in New York, where theoretically the pain ought to be the swiftest and most searing. Yes, I hear from saplings at banks that they've seen all their friends fired and they're so underused that they'd like to quit. Yes, I hear from wealthy people that their stocks are worthless. But do I see gloom and doom in their faces? Have I noticed people staying home at night? Have I seen, as the surveys claim, that hemlines are turning long and Penthouse models are large, earthy types? No. Reed-thin models are still on magazine covers. Hemlines are high, as are chins, … [Read more...] about For some, this crisis is on another planet

There are probably many millions of Earth-like planets across the Milky Way that we could potentially walk around on, with liquid water and maybe even bacterial life on the surface. In fact, exoplanets of all kinds are everywhere. The number is as infinite as the stars in the heavens.nnt The latest findings about these planets around TRAPPIST-1 just serves to feed the interest in this growing field of astronomy. Ask any exoplanet scientist about the potential for intelligent life outside our solar system and you’ll hear the familiar ‘Yes, but…’ answer. Yes, we think there might be, but don’t quote us on that, because we can’t see with enough precision.nnt But that’s changing. Astronomers are now able to use more and more powerful satellites and telescopes to detect these exoplanets, if not actually observe them directly. As we reported on in January’s edition of Space, hunting for exoplanets is still extremely difficult. One of the key … [Read more...] about Exoplanets: Earth is not alone
Nasa is set to make an announcement about a "discovery beyond our solar system" relating to exoplanets. The space agency said it will host a conference relating to the discovery on Wednesday, 22 February, at 1pm EST (6pm GMT). While very brief on details, it said they will be presenting "new findings on planets that orbit stars other than our Sun, known as exoplanets". Attending the Nasa news conference will be: Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington Michael Gillon, astronomer at the University of Liege in Belgium Sean Carey, manager of NASA's Spitzer Science Center at Caltech/IPAC, Pasadena, California Nikole Lewis, astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore Sara Seager, professor of planetary science and physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, CambridgeWhat are exoplanets? Exoplanets are planets that orbit stars beyond our solar system. Our system has eight planets and a number of … [Read more...] about How many potentially habitable planets are there in the Milky Way?
Astronomers have discovered 60 new planets beyond our solar system. The international team, which includes Dr Mikko Tuomi from the University of Hertfordshire, found the new extrasolar planets orbiting stars close to Earth’s solar system. The scientists also found evidence of a further 54 planets, bringing the potential discovery of new worlds to 114. The team said the planets are in our “immediate solar system” and one in particular, Gliese 411b, is of particular interest. Gliese 411b is a hot super-Earth with a rocky surface located in the fourth nearest star system to the Sun, making it the third nearest planetary system to the Sun. The significance of its discovery demonstrates that virtually all the nearest stars to the Sun have planets orbiting them – planets like Earth. The results, which are part of the Lick-Carnegie Exoplanet Survey, are based on observations taken over a 20-year period by American astronomers using the Keck-I telescope in … [Read more...] about Astronomers discover 60 new planets (From St Albans & Harpenden Review)
ABC/MARIO PEREZ Lost fans want to know: Who is Mrs. Eloise Hawking? We know she's a mother and something of a mystic, and that her mysterious character (played by the superfine Fionnula Flanagan) has both mucked up Desmond David Hume's (Henry Ian Cusick) life and helped the Oceanic Six get back to the Island. But as Fionnula reveals to us in an exclusive interview, the full story won't be revealed until a certain episode a few weeks out... In the meantime, if she's Daniel Faraday's (Jeremy Davies) mother, then who is Daniel's father? Could it be Charles Widmore (Alan Dale)? Says Fionnula, "Mrs. Hawking never talks about her past sexual relationships." (Say it with me: LOL.) And what else is Mrs. Hawking? Could she be an alien? That's actually on the table, or so says Fionnula... Having already done three episodes so far this season, Fionnula promises she will bring Mrs. Hawking back again later this season: "I'm literally waiting for the car to come pick me up because I'm going back … [Read more...] about Is Lost’s Mrs. Hawking From Another Planet?
David Letterman and Stephen Colbert have come together on The Late Show stage. The soon-to-be Late Show host and soon-to-be retired Late Show host united forces tonight to talk about the big change that everyone's been talking about for the last few weeks. Looking around at the crowded audience (and probably taking it in that this will soon be his audience), a dapper Colbert sat down to chat with the man who is currently in the seat he will be taking over. "You look right at home," Letterman said approvingly to the Comedy Central star as he sat down to the roars from the crowd. MORE: Stephen Colbert to replace David Letterman And it didn't take long before we got a glimpse of the duo's hilarious back-and-forth. "I'm going to do whatever you have done," Colbert told Letterman, which prompted the host to immediately respond, "No, you don't want to do that." "Really, no?" Colbert asked. "It seems to have gone pretty well, Dave." "It's gone…on," Letterman said. "Well, obviously … [Read more...] about David Letterman to Stephen Colbert: I’m Thrilled They Didn’t Hire “Another Boob Like Me”—Watch!

The US space agency NASA announced late Wednesday that scientists using a new verification technique on data from the Kepler telescope had discovered 715 additional planets. The new finds "almost certainly doubled" the number of planets known to humanity, said NASA planetary scientists during a news conference. The additions include four exo-planets – those outside our solar system – at the right distance from their parent stars for surface water to stay liquid. The "habitable zone" is neither too hot nor too cold for life, which is dependent on water, to potentially exist. More data to examine The telescope, launched in 2009 but now disabled, spent four productive years staring at 160,000 stars. So far, two years of its data have been analyzed by scientists. The 715 planets located were orbiting in clusters around stars, much like the Earth and its sister planets which orbit our sun. 'Small planets, extremely common' Astronomer Sara Seagar of the Massachusetts … [Read more...] about More planets discovered outside solar system
While many responded with shock to Donald Trump's upset win for president in Tuesday's election, "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert addressed divisions among voters and called for unity. At the end of his hourlong live election-night special on Showtime, "Stephen Colbert's Live Election Night Democracy's Series Finale: Who's Going To Clean Up This S‑‑‑?" Colbert seemed deflated and defeated, and he acknowledged thinking he'd see Hillary Clinton take the Oval Office. But beyond that, he underlined the adverse effect he said the election has had on the country. "Now I think we can agree that this has been an absolutely exhausting, bruising election for everyone, and it has come to an ending that I did not imagine," Colbert said while still awaiting the election's final results, which were favoring Trump. "We all now feel the way Rudy Giuliani looks. Seeing this election, people all around the world … everybody's going to be saying, 'Has America lost its mind?' And the answer is, … [Read more...] about Stephen Colbert: ‘We should never, ever have another election like this one’
